Already the predecessor "Grace for Drowning" was completely convincing; only the occasionally somewhat tenuous lead guitar was a little disappointed me. However, this weakness has Wilson now eliminated: With Guthrie Govan he has brought one of the most best living guitarists on board, and what here partially can be heard (for example in "Drive Home" or "Watchmaker"), is simply to kneeling down. Interestingly, even Govan to the tonal concept of the album completely subordinates; usually (and I recommend on most urgent to admire him even on youtube) he maintains a more direct, "bluesy" sound that would have been completely out of place here.
"The Raven That Refused To Sing" is one of the best rock albums of recent years. It is complex, demanding and at the same time still "audible" than its predecessors and should be in every collection!
