"Just as good as my SLR!"
If that's your honest opinion, then you should really leave the DSLR at home, because it's a pity for so much lost technology, if you do not notice the difference. Because today each buffoon has a SLR, but this statement does not surprise me really.
In 1020 still is a smartphone that was equipped with a good camera ... and not vice versa. Brililantes display, liquid surf, good voice quality. The 1020 does everything pretty well. And with the new Windows Phone 8.1 (I use it as a preview version) makes it even more fun than before. While it is difficult and because of the camera hump not always handy, but this has indeed these 41 MP camera that has no other smartphone.
All in all, would have to 5 stars are awarded if ... yes if the 1020 would not call popularly known as the ne plus ultra in terms of camera and you squander many non Wisser compact therefore on Ebay. Before I now torn by the fans of 1020, I provide also the reason for the withdrawal of a star in my rating.
Reason to buy this device is often the argument "From now on I always doing a good camera". Since the cat bites unfortunately in the tail. For the Lumia 1020 I have the same rating system we use in each "take-along camera", and this then includes the following three points:

Battery Performance: With normal use smartphone with surfing, calls, occasional games or sometimes a navigation should hold the 2000mAh battery. I want it but - as a small camera - take you on a city tour, shoot a lot of photos, have been doing the screen for manual operation of the Cam last long, flashes addition and turn a couple of video clips, the battery is quickly floored when I "zehnzwanzisch can say ". I buy for 50 euros the great Akkugriff of Nokia, which donated the 1020 more endurance, grip and a tripod mount, I'm back in the thickness of a compact that I just want to wear not always in your pocket.
So by balancing the battery weakness means Akkugriff I lose the advantage of the take-along-having. Grip I have just not always there. And suddenly the battery is exactly then empty and I have thereby no working camera. The comparison with a Smart car, which can be provided with an additional backpack-trunk (there's really), no lags.

TIME TO STANDBY (and how long it takes from turning on until the first photo?)
I've done several tests, and from hibernation until the first photo it takes Felt 6 and 8 seconds. Until the second photo even at least 11. If you were to the standards of a compact camera apply here ... this camera would be torn in test reports for absolute Schnappschussuntauglichkeit. Whether the chip's or anvsonst something is, I should not care as users. If I have to leave my home Compact, must simply work the 1020. FAIL.
3. Operate time (snapshots)
The point is processed partially with point 2, but when I want to photograph a passing car, I have to be aware that I previously must press the shutter button 1.5 to 2 seconds. The same the unexpectedly smiles at a child or jumps up and the same. When an athlete who shoots the football How should I know two seconds before, what happens? I certify the camera - as above genannt- an absolute unsuitability in terms of snapshots. This can be any (!) Compact camera better.
Conclusion:
41 MP are great, the concept works, the digital zoom is excellent and unique. The photos are qualitatively completely ok. In almost all respects you can say "Yes, I replaced a reasonably compact camera", but at the above three points makes Nokia the penny! A spanner in the works. Too Bad. But they have at least tried.
Nevertheless, this is recommended 1020, if not in their entirety. The Lumia 925 is for photo fans also a good choice, though only 8.7 MP available. Suitable for everyday use, it is all.
