We had originally bought the board game version of the 'first generation', which was completely voted Law 1995 on the Game of the Year. First met we had it on a game night with friends and I as newcomers have won the same as the rules of the game are not really complicated and can be implemented quickly. Over time, then came the game version for Playstation and Nintendo to simply because more playfulness, just always too few players were present. Having now even the children had found fun on Nintendo Catan, the time was ripe to be the mono player to Community players, so we have reactivated the board. Last year, we had already received the 2014er version with plastic material (roads, settlements, cities and robbers) replaced the corresponding wooden figures. In addition, there were new the 'play it smart' version that leads the game by using a corresponding app into the 21st century and the gameplay enriched by actions. In the 2015er version of Catan hardly any difference now to identify (the cover on the package is modified and the dice are now available in two different colors). Similarly, the app has been updated in the meantime. At family nights with kids but we still play prefer the pure board based, as the 'drivel' the app one goes on the mind over time and even 'flagged' the children (the moves just go faster and so the 'bearer' the app is now also again not).
Nevertheless, there remains 'Catan' course the classic it is, anyway.
