Second novel by Jean François Parot, and second stunt. Is it more a thriller than a historical novel or the reverse! I confess that both aspects of the novel are of exceptional quality, and you're a fan of one more than the other does nothing to remove your reading pleasure. Next thriller, a complex plot in which Nicolas Le Floch, our hero, we not led to no. We indices with him we discover and devises hypotheses, but no time did we feel left behind by the conundrum. Historical side, we plunge again with pleasure in the 18th century: Paris, its people, its shops, leisure, gastronomy, the nobility, the court, the King and Pompadour. So well done that you really have the impression to be there in person and to move alongside Nicolas Le Floch. The style, always nice and rich, brings much to the pleasure of reading. In short, a captivating novel and great quality (as above) that I recommend to all! Enjoy reading.
