After several listens I can say now: A really strong comeback album that has delivered since our Lieblingskolumbianerin!
Shakira trying out many styles that you may not have heard so far with her. "Can not Remember To Forget You" and "Nunca Me Acuerdo De Olvidarte" (which should be familiar to anyone now) used New Wave elements, while "Empire" is a power rock ballad is. "You Do not Care About Me" sounds very playful and experimental, but has developed immediately to my absolute favorite album. It definitely catchy! "Dare (La La La)" or "La La La (Brazil 2014)" will quickly become a hit in my opinion, as it will most likely be published at the latest at this year's World Cup in Brazil as a single. Great dance track with electro influences, but which shine through the old Latin roots. "Cut Me Deep" is a largely coined by reggae song, also different, but audible. I like the song better and better after I have consulted it to me several times. "23", "The One Thing", "Medicine", "Spotlight" and "Broken Record" address current mainstream elements (pop, country, electro, dance) and seem at first glance might not really special, but to be with the time getting better and all have very great texts. Closer listening is also worthwhile here. The best stated by the latter is for me, "Broken Record". "Loca Por Ti" reminds me personally of old Spanish-language ballads like "Antes De La Seis" or "Lo Que Más" and is therefore beautiful. "Chasing Shadows" in my opinion is the weakest song on the album, it is easy for my taste too much adapted to the currently prevailing musical tastes of the general public. He is not bad, but stands the least of all the songs out. For me, more of a Fillertrack, but that others might also look different. The closing ballad "That Way" is just stunning! More I must not say. The three remixes of the hit single "Can not Remember To Forget You" that were on the version of Media Markt with draufgepackt, in my opinion are nothing special and would not have been necessary. But I do not complain about additional tracks me. I'm generally not a fan of remixes.
In conclusion, I can say that Shakira many different styles of music together on their self-titled album together, which also works mostly well. The right collaborators Shakira has also brought on board (Rihanna, Magic !, Blake Shelton). For every Shakira fan album is anyway a must, but also could attract new fans! From my absolute buy recommendation, you really get offered something great for his money. Although some songs may know to convince really until later. But they do!
