1) Hey, Cruel World 5/5 *
The album could hardly start better, but we expect a brutal opener that mobilized to its former strength and roughness. Could not be better. Impressive text and unusual vocals revealed along fun: turn up! A very successful introduction.
The Center of the Universe
Can not Exist
When there are no,
No edges
Hey, Cruel World
You dont have what it takes.
2) No Reflection 4/5 *
At first listen, I was disappointed. But already the second in love with Oblivion, the subject of the album. However, a small smear because the longer album version seems a little artificial-stretched. Together with the last song on the album, is here most clearly what is at stake with Manson Born Villain. A pretty catchy and poppy first single in typical Manson style.
3) Pistol Whipped 5/5 *
This song is hopefully the next single, if it at all is because a give, but this song is extremely explosive representative of the album. (Now it is but then become (unfortunately) Slo-Mo-tion). Very minimalistic and Vocal, text, guitar and drums are well-coordinated everything fits together!
4) Overneath The Path Of Misery 4/5 *
This impressive and structured song that aufwiest a very disturbing prologue (yes almost reminiscent of David Firth!), Is probably the mammoth project of the album and was known in advance. A very absonderndes work, with a strong finale and an exaggerated-good text, but somehow it is not enough so completely for five, it simply lacks the brilliant idea.
5) Slo-Mo-tion 3/5 *
The title unit Slo-Mo-tion and not Slo Mo. He is a remarkable synthesis of utter trash and and pop chorus. But good Drums and Bass succeeded inlay. Very slowly and a necessary change to the 80-beat the rest of the album. (Remember perhaps a bit on TAoG). For me, not just a favorite.
6) The Gardener 4/5 *
This song makes and has mood, although the artist babbles more around as anyway (go many samples in this direction) already on this album and it also once again very distorted, which sounds sometimes succeeded and sometimes less successful (it is also very Whispered much on this album). But the driving chorus parts as yet very successful vocals and this great verse Im not one enough to be human that awakens many associations, ensure an extremely good song, which is good for more than an interlude in Konzernten. So should be! Definitely a highlight of this album.
7) The Flowers of Evil 3/5 *
These flowers are strongly reminiscent THEOL, only grow faster. This song is actually ended up even for a short time even at Pro7 (which should be no praise now, but apparently some intern has the potential recognized), but if you a few times has heard the refrain, the understands. But the 80-fuss annoying slow a bit (I mean the beat), so this song seems a bit unmotivated. The text is, like all very well done: [L] ike scars in te ground, Wellgrow like dead flowers. (Great metaphor).
8) Children Of Cain 4/5 *
Preloaded titles, so we stay in the horror track, but the gloomy atmosphere and many small details ensure an above average song.
Now my favorites
9) Disengaged 5/5 *
For me, a song that already ignites at first hearing. There is also a fat bass and a very primitive guitar riff: groovy hate anthem!
10) Lay Down Your Arms *** God 5/5 *
Lay Down Your Arms *** God is just a great and successful ballad that is reminiscent of Mechanical Animals, and has a great reef - and yet has its own logic. This song does the album very well.
(Great metaphors! To open this box you can not shoot the lock I hide everything so you can not see).
11) Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day 4/5 *
What more could you prove to us here? I do not know if it had to be. Massive and placed, this song seems as if someone is trying to prove us what. Something you have also heard many times, just like people who live in the city, certain signals. But since it closely resembles the title of THEOL and the case on your knees-Passage is the rocking just succeeded, and the grain-heavy end, and the hope of the room is that it could live, work very, just like the wonderful self-irony. The title like!
12) Born Villain 3/5 *
A bit boring and quite catchy heavy is this eponymous song. Positive but this work is the Progessivität which is rather rare anzutrffen on this album, and (to) typical strong-finals (but then this inappropriate synths?). And the guitar reminds suspiciously sharply If I was your vampire - one of the best songs of all time. But I prefer to get away clicks. From a theme song you can expect more, right?
13) Breaking The Same Old Ground 3/5 *
With a gun paradigm it is the last song: Holy Wood says hello.
The song seems to me too much on Coma White / Black matched what one hears very clearly to the drums. Nevertheless, a worthy conclusion with great you can not mention often enough text and a very meta selbestreflexiven level, but also can not tear out a lot, even if the middle part offers melancholy. Here fails the album on his own, awarded, aesthetic principle. But that finally happens frequently.
Bonus Song - Your'so vain 3/5 *
Honestly now? Which of you would know or recognize, rather, hear better that Mr. Depp is involved here when he did not know before.
Rather boring, but solid gecovert. The guitar solos brings fun.
It is right to say that it had what changed. Born Villain is a successful concept album in search of the immediate, the very reduced, yet is picturesque and varied. Although it quieter times again, which I consider to be positive, there are again very Erupting, driving and aggressive places, know with whom the band Marilyn Manson over yet convincing. Of course, is a strong shift to Eat me, drink me, so after Lest we forget, what I interpret as the topcoat or change point to more complex, more laconic songs and I think that's very good. And of course you could could get more out of this idea, especially as regards the Progessivität of each song. But since there is no song under three stars, I give this yearning concept album four rocky and extremely unreflective star.
