Book particularly interesting and written with scientific rigor and the necessary perspective on such a difficult subject.
In his first chapter (long enough) the author explains what constitutes our life, where to find it, how it is formed and develops.
The second major theme revolves around the exo planets, the different methods to discover and unable now to analyze their atmospheres.
The third section is entitled: where are hiding they? With extra terrestrial research programs as SETI.
The end envisages a kind of science fiction story about the possibilities of traveling to the stars in the stars. `Such a future is possible? All everyone can form their own opinions but is it not true that visionaries like Jules Verne were not very far from reality today!
This book seems to me a fairly easy access to any reader.
