Cameras, especially compact cameras are in principle already in a dilemma: On the one hand they are trying in pretty small enclosures as much technology as possible to squeeze in, "to encourage the buyer to purchase and on the other there are always enthusiasts, who are not satisfied with the then presented quality because they consider important for "their images as a high quality SLR. Personally, I find myself there again and again torn: My digital SLR is high (of the results and in particular of its recording speed) still unmatched - apart from the fact there are plenty of circumstances where you hold these for just too clunky and therefore is for walks, trips, etc. the demand for what little loud. So far in the use of compact cameras, the most important point for me was the speed of the camera, because you can also make the necessary snapshots only by a quick response. Thus, it has turned out rather quickly that the usual zoom, megapixel technology and madness plays a minor role. Megapixels are important if I have huge enlargements before and at lower zoom you go just once to get closer or trying on an alternative composition. But now we turn finally the TG 830 and try to get out as they deal with this dilemma: As absolutely positive this point but slightly more expensive compact camera is the outdoor ability that will surely find a lot of friends. How can you even take pictures in this price range under water (of course, although only 10 meters - but enough for the beach visit the), perform a GPS-tracking and even drops of up to 2.10 meters dare? The test of dropping I let remain times - but a good feeling it is to know that the camera could withstand it. The TG-830 is kept quite compact despite its functional diversity. All subjects "and openings are doubly protected only when compared to other non-Outdoor." -Kompaktkameras Affects them a little hard - but this is still in the practical context (and somewhere, the whole protective measures must indeed be reflected). The responsiveness is healthy midfield and as absolute highlight, I think the simple way of photographing during movie recording. Here I have deliberately triggered the photos with flash and interestingly, one could look at this in the recorded video while not notice. Here I had a concern that you realize every flash - but was fortunately not the case at. Visually it looks robust, but will not win a design award. But this is not necessary and therefore uninteresting. The controls are self-explanatory or are even briefly using a catchy text on the screen. The symbolism of the switches is unfortunately imprinted and not marked in different colors - has but a short time resolved itself because you then yes knows the camera and the display with the user speaks ". The handling is intuitive enough that even my two kids (even users of cheaper digital cameras of other brands) are immediately come handle it. Thus, one can also easily pass this time, since the risk of damage is so greatly reduced by the outdoor functionality.
Regarding settings, the TG-830 has quite a few gimmicks "that you try the best of the series through to get a feel for it and no time to lose in real use. All in all, thus is it with the TG830 to a successful and compact camera for any use, ensuring despite its compactness for successful results. Thus my SLR is likely to be taken more often no longer on the move or on holiday (the arms!)
