In the PSP is my first handheld, since the classic Gameboy (early 90s). Accordingly, I took my time when buying and also compared with its competitors as the Nintento DS (i). This scores with the much larger selection of games, of course, many of which are tailored to a very young audience. Graphically it is inferior to the PSP clear. Many top games are here also to have at an average price of 20 euros. However, the PSP can, besides these major games for properties, also show off multimedia heavily.
She plays innately .mp3s from which incl. Ablbumcover and can be played with different visualizers. Even films thanks to the 16: 9 screen is no problem. Freeware as "SUPER" already has a template for the format conversion just in .mp4. Fast forward to a specific time index, slow motion and single-frame playback are de rigueur. To transfer the files, however, a (mini) USB cable is necessary, as some people from his digital camera has been at home.
The battery life amounts to approximately 5 hours. Using the supplied power cord it is recharged in about 2 hours. However, the cable is very short, it can be played only limited at this time.
Something strange is at the beginning still the whirring of the UMD drive. But you get used to it and I recommend anyway to play with headphones. Just as the great soundtracks of some games can be enjoyed in their full glory. Further falls when first starting the lack of any internal memory on. At least for a couple Scores of 16 or 32MB PSP could be donated. But without a memory card is nothing here. But good for demos, .mp3 and Co will then eh needed a bit more memory.
A word about the PSP 2 or "4000". Rumored she should already be the end of 2009 in the shops, but I did a lot to occur shortly. But this is pure speculation and who wants a little more security, should wait for the E3 in early June.
Conclusion: Thoroughly recommended for demanding gamers with multimedia ambitions.
Supplement 11/2010: Well, after the PSP Go has proved to be such a flop, is the 3004, the measure of all things. The currently most advanced handheld (!) Drive. Hopefully Sony can learn from it and not try again to rotate a download-only device. The destroyed only the second-hand market and limits the life artificially one (if the kids in 20 years, is still able to download the same content?).
