Born in London as Steven Demetre Georgiou 1948 Briton reflects on his musical roots, which were laid in the 60s, in the relevant London clubs, with R & B and blues music, among others, Jimmy Reed, Bo Diddley and Howlin 'Wolf, and in the following years towards pop and rock were drawn also by the early influences of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and the American Motown scene.
It is then not surprising that beside beautiful Yusuf own compositions, such as "I was raised in Babylon" (with guest musician Richard Thompson), a few songs from other springs, for example by Edgar Winter, or Luther Dixon on "Tell 'em In are gone ". The two younger Yusuf productions "An Other Cup" in 2006 and "Road Singer" in 2009 I was not bad, but "Tell 'em im gone" seems to me more authentic and appropriate therefore, just how successful Cat Stevens and his timeless songs of the 70's has always liked.
