What I first noticed very positively on the Nikon Coolpix, was how well it is in your hand. I have a much more expensive model than the "main" camera, and this is much more difficult to keep, although it is similar in weight. Several roughened surfaces on both the thumb and forward at the fingertips (if you hold the camera, as it is provided), ensuring that it can virtually not slip out of your hand. The accessories can also be seen: lens cap, a very decent strap and batteries included, so you can losknipsen immediately are. Should I find the fact that it is operated by normal AA batteries, well, or not, I do not know. I always have the feeling that they do not last as long as an ordinary battery, but that's probably just a very subjective feeling. Photos are by ordinary pixel count and very good optical zoom and image stabilizer really good. Many different settings are possible, some of them certainly superfluous, but others quite important. For quite unsafe, there are also an automatic mode, which adapts itself to circumstances, usually it works out pretty well. If you want a bit more, you can edit the images on the camera already, but is always somewhat tricky. Personally, I do that rather then on the PC at home. The videos are also okay, for short recordings, the quality is sufficient.
Most disturb me two things: First, the storage process the photos takes incredibly long! I still know from my very first digital camera, and then I thought it was already annoying! Anyone who has ever missed a good motive (at a concert, in animals or children photography), who knows how annoying it can be if that's just because the camera was just not yet operational because they have the previous image stored. Since I will regularly grumpy when that happens, so for me this is really a problem. On the other lacks an optical viewfinder, which I personally find also questionable. If the lighting conditions are difficult (in bright sunlight), one quickly gets there problems. In addition, there are certainly some who prefer to use the viewfinder instead of the screen. That would not be here, because it was really waived completely on.
My conclusion: fits comfortably in the hand and provides (after some waiting ...) good pictures, but also has a few irrefutable weaknesses. However, the camera for this unbeatable price is a great entry-level model for hobby photographers who want to have a few higher-quality snapshots! There does not always have to be a DSLR or expensive bridge camera; the Nikon Coolpix L340 is a good alternative.
