Short the slightly dull knife (right dulling never with me) wet and a few times at the right angle pull over the grinding rod, pull briefly on the palm and the blade is razor sharp again.
The length of the rod is perfect, even for large diameters.
Regular grinding on the stone of course not spared this, but you can order then wait longer.
But beware: In my household there are only relatively good knife from steel (440C and Sandvik 12C27). These steel grades are favorable in the purchase, the knives are cutting properties and are easy to sharpen.
Who has simple knife made of soft steel, will not be satisfied with this knife sharpener, because the blades are hardly not sharpen or so.
In this case, I would rather recommend a neat low steel Wetzstab my removal. This miss of a larger blade, slightly jagged ridge (similar to a fine saw), so that this can be useful cut. The ridge, however, lies down quickly to, so you have to sharpen more often. But that's all quite quickly.
Incidentally respect. The ceramic knife sharpener is more sensitive than steel and can easily break. Therefore not just be in the cutlery drawer and best kept in the packaging.
