We are not professional photographers, where each image is processed so that it is a small work of art, but the classic amateur photographers who do not want to make one more big retrospective imaging in every shot. We needed a fast, compact and handy camera as possible for all everyday situations and snapshots incl. Video films.
We want as many situations simply digitally hold, sometimes enlarged print or just a friend. For the SX600 is simply ideal. An absolute all-rounder, so to speak. The handling is easy, the menu navigation Canon moderately fit and deductible, you have just found the first steps only by trial and error handle (learning by doing).
Here are some details:
- Housing feels wertig, no plastic look
- Camera is handy, not too heavy, compact size (fits in your pocket)
- Display bright enough and big enough
- 18x optical zoom awesome, ranging from easy for the usual everyday situations
- Fast Autofocus, crisp images. Camera shake and / or blurring we had hardly ever (as does the image stabilizer probably all the work)
- Movies (Full HD) are razor-sharp and also wacklerfrei, picture and sound so very good indeed. Canon calls it Intelligent IS, which makes for quiet recordings, even if the move is even great!

- The automatic program does a great job and is especially popular when things have to move quickly, the perfect exposure and sharpness. For this, the camera automatically selects 32 major exposure situations from the most appropriate (in Movies 21 shooting situations)
- Nevertheless, it also has a lot of possibilities for manual settings. For this purpose are common programs like portrait, night scenes, fireworks, beach, etc. are available.

But still some small Cons:
- The enclosed short description is not sufficient for many functions of the camera. The complete manual must be introduced to Canon in the network download a printed version would have been very nice!
- Also missing a transmission cable from the camera to the PC included, which really belongs but in the basic equipment. Here Canon saves in the wrong place, the angry customers only unnecessary
- The function Creative shot would have Canon can save flatly. Here the camera automatically creates 5 different creative images from a single shot Who needs that? If you want to try out artistic effects, this can also create your own from the manual subroutines out when needed. Something also quite prominent as accommodate additional slide switch on the cabinet surface is smooth waste! At this point one would have really important things such. All in all a brilliant little camera for the amateur daily in the usual Canon quality at a really affordable price, that price / performance ratio was absolutely in order.
We therefore full purchase recommendation even if a few things are really unnecessary.
But the great image quality and ease of use make it worth it here.
