I have since about 4 months, the Samsung i8910 and was quite happy with it. It is simply an ingenious mobile, technically superior to all others. BUT: There can only be a finger use. The few pins for capacitive displays that are there that are good all together nothing.
Therefore, I decided to try the Nokia N97 mini.
I'm here only to the details that are important to me, not to the entire technical capabilities of both devices. Things like Facebook, Twitter and Co I do not use, so I let them außenvor, even if they are a strength of the N97 Mini.
So short pluses and minuses to both mobile phones (i8910 VS N97 Mini):
Samsung i8910:
+ Large and brilliant AMOLED display which is probably unmatched by any other device
+ 8 MP camera
+ Capacitive display, which already responds to the slightest touch
+ On the Symbian operating system is the Samsung Touch Wiz own interface that can be individualized better than the standard system the N97 Mini
- The capacitive display can be previously operate sensibly only your fingers to control for my taste in long lists such as phone book or music lists very inaccurate with your finger. The desired items i miss most by far. Also in video before or rewind is only with your fingers cramp (I look like to live concerts, where I skip here and there NEN track or want to rewind).
- The images of 8 MP camera is not better than the one of (but is ne objective experience) 5 MP camera of the N97 Mini for my taste
- As opposed to the Nokia N97 mini quite large. On paper, the size differences are rather modest, but who had both phones times in the hand, know what I mean.
Now for the Nokia N97 Mini, here I start with the negatives:
- No AMOLED display with all the brilliant colors
- Unlike the i8910, a 5 MP camera, but quite comparable images shoots (objectively)
- Resitives display which is responsive to pressure, not on touch smallest
- The Samsung i8910 technically in some respects inferior (display, internal memory, camera, Internet speed)
BUT:
+ Because the display is resistive, so responds to pressure, I can here easily using a stylus, thought whatever the brand or what. Operation of the N97 Mini comes with a stylus just awesome. It is well out of hand and if you specialize in such a stylus avoids even unsightly fingerprints on the display. The main reason for my change from i8910 to N97 Mini was just typing, scrolling through lists, etc ...
+ More compact dimensions than the i8910
+ Full QWERTY keyboard that can write e-mails and SMS much kompfortabler and offers to the other advantages:
-> When watching movies, you can use the buttons up / down the volume change, the right to select with the keys left / previous / next video
-> The display is deployed in video look just awesome, even listening to music via mobile phone I have expanded the display. So I can with what is mentioned already stylus quickly forward or rewind, change volume and more. I've never experienced such a intuitive control with a cell phone. But stress again that I go only to the functions important to me.
+ Aforementioned keyboard is in contrast to the big brother N97 perfectly illuminated, special characters clearly recognizable. All keys have a good tactile feedback and are easy to reach for my taste
+ I have it now already more frequently mentioned but particularly the possibility of a PDA / Smartphone or whatever to use stylus, erleichter operate the N97 Mini, unlike the Samsung i8910 enormous !!!
CONCLUSION:
Of course I can anyone now specifically the Samsung i8910 or Nokia N97 Mini know because it depends on the particular use to. For my needs, the Nokia N97 Mini is a clear advantage. It's the Samsung i8910 compared technically something back, convincing but when one gets through a wehsentlich better service to a Eingabestifft. The display on the N97 is smaller but provides quite convincing images (so good to watch videos). Music is the Player clear clear and (where possible with internal speakers) where powerful again. Nix to complain.
Clear the N97 is (whether mini or normal) designed for Internet. So Facebook, Twitter and no idea what. Since I have no interest to it. Perhaps my review I stole help one or the other :)
PS:
For low battery life of the N97 Mini:
- YES, the battery has a low duration. However, the battery needs to be conditioned first. That is, he should be charged with switched off mobile phone overnight. Then wait or cell phone use until the battery becomes drained, which switches off the phone and then repeat the whole so 3-4x. Only then the battery has reached its full power.
- A tip for a nice outfit from me:
-> Phone Case with space for stylus, cleaning cloth, spare battery and more:
-> Good stylus for N97 Mini's:
-> Original Nokia BL-4D battery (recharged fully as a substitute to take):
plus a commercially available lens cloth and it is well equipped :)
