Unfortunately not so great is the equipment with bonus material: the second CD offers only 2 bonus tracks and an interview with Falco anno 1993. the anniversary remix of "never again school" is more than superfluous sounds boring and well-behaved and why exactly this very atypical song was selected (for both falcon and for this album) for a remix, nobody knows. why not a remix of "The Fugitive" (at that time was a single in the US) or "too much heat" (1982 was a promo-single in Germany)? just bad and bland ... is interesting because already "that scene": this English-language version of "Ganz Wien" was founded in 1981 as the very first only released Falco single in Austria. the translation was happening because Ö3 (then Austria's only Youth Radio station) refused to play the original German version (too much drugs-related issues in the text). Falco's English is funny and skuril as always, and the song is certainly "solitary confinement" on a re-release of more than appropriate.
but why so little bonus material? from the time the former PUBLICATION there massive additional material such as original remixes of "burning machine" and "The Fugitive," which were then remixed for the American market? findent why these two remixes not here? would have been enough on the second disc space.
the interview seems somehow misplaced: certainly a very good interview (nothing earth-shattering) but what has an interview from 1993 on a anniversary release of "solitary confinement" looking for? In an interview goes well only very briefly about the first album - one has the impression the record company has this interview just a matter pressed on the CD and then next year (will be announced in the booklet) the full interview as an audio book to published. pity interviews from that time would have been certainly interesting.
nice it would have been to give the two "the Commissioner" videos (the European and American) on the bonus CD ...
booklet the first time the original lyrics of the songs, unfortunately, it was decided for licensing reasons, the text of "Ganz Wien" omit (as had the impression namely cost anything).
otherwise contains the booklet a short statement by Robert ponger (producer of the album) and a text of the interviewer. the photos in the booklet are unfortunately not from the time (as many would obwohls: Falco and ponger at caffee-drinking in U4!) but from the time of data-de-groove recording (1990).
All in all a good posthumous Falco-release: The album is brilliant re-mastered and sounds really great. the bonus disc is disappointing (too little bonus material) and the rise up of the album (apart from the nice look of the CDs in vinyl look) mediocre (not all texts, no original photos).
all the album not yet have, be sure to access. that is Falco's best album. fans the CD do not have to necessarily buy ("that scene" are in existence on CD, the remix of "never again school" need not, and the interview will appear in full length already next year).
only the stunning sound quality could remaster by the digital still tempted to buy even one.
5 * for the album itself, 3 * for the loveless additional material.
