Here we are in the heart of a story with the dual "superhero" and "science fiction". In both cases, Johns does not go with the back of the spoon. As for superheroes, there are three dozen, which confronts all the way in the purest tradition of myth. In the genre of science fiction, the writer imagines an ambitious saga based intergalactic conflict, time travel and overdeveloped technology.
Personally, I was pretty impressed with the form of the narrative, dense and consistent, as Johns has the secret. But I have not been so thrilled with the background. First, these superhero hordes made me a little dizzy. Presented by tooltips every five minutes, yet it is hard to recognize and attach to it. In addition, their powers are ersatz of the most famous superheroes (a "Wolverine here, a" Medusa "by, a" Giant man "here, a" Wasp "by, etc.). Obviously is to be taken literally as a kind of homage amused to become archetypal figures. But the fact that it falls very quickly in a little outdated narrative.
Then all the incidents are ultra phoned and the reader guessing the fall from the start, emphasizing the harmless tale of printing reserved especially for readers knowing draw from the many references. It has a parable about the totalitarian excesses, especially through this distorted version of the "JLA" but she finally watered by the light treatment and second degree of the whole.
Because I do appreciate moderately stories starring a maximum of "super liners" stuffed with repetitive sandbox fights, because I no longer adheres to the stories at all "old-school" containing the codes old comics, I was lukewarm on this reading. Gary Frank has beautiful designer deliver a perfect job (!!! Ah head Christopher Reeves I love), this story is between "Superman: Secret Origin," "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes" and "Superman : Brainiac "(all three directed by the same team), the one I liked the least.
In vf, these episodes were published by Panini Comics editions in the magazine "Superman & Batman" # 15-17.
