Overall this is a good book that combined two genres: science fiction and fantasy. The aspect of science fiction is to my opinion the most successful with a government composed of "superior" beings that are completely paperless is in a highly technological system, the ANA. The author's strength is to rely on technologies that we know but are still in their infancy today such as creating body from DNA, personality transmission through the cognitive sciences and technological applications or nanotechnology. Anticipation One could almost speak more than science fiction. And then there are multiple beings, drug use pushed to the limit and many other subjects all equally interesting, all in a galactic world that knows its factional power struggles and a common threat: "The Empty. " This cosmic phenomenon that threatens the very existence of humanity will be the subject of multiple technological and religious conflicts. So we have all the ingredients to not get bored. On the other side, we have a culture that evolves within the "Empty", based on paranormal powers such as telekinesis, telepathy and many others. These two worlds do not have contacts and are almost ignorant of the existence of the other. However we understand from reading this first volume they are not nearly as independent of one another and that sooner or later they will meet and interact for better and for worse. To discover in the following volumes ....
