One of the classics (1895) in Science-fiction library / Anticipation

I'm not a big fan of English Science-fiction (and I know better Barjavel Werber in France) but it happens that I read "the" quintessential classic -which makes school-that of HG Wells (1866-1946 ) "The Machine The Time".

As I have read in a previous comment, it's true that the impression of "being in the novel" temporal history being highly original for its time (published in 1895).

The downside is more in form than in substance: I find that the Wells writing style is a bit heavy. However, to know the founding fathers of SF, it seems important to have it and read it.
