The Emir Abdel Qader was a holy man, which is why many Freemasons wanted to make one of "their", which was not really the case, as orthodox Muslim remaining until his death (and God Knows better). In this book, he exposes the spiritual teachings he draws from his long meditations, spiritual reflections and experiences, and consist mainly to comment "Futûhât al makiyya" of his spiritual master (Ibn 'Arabi). A spiritual power and incredible depth emerge from his writings, despite some passages that are difficult - probably the need to experiment yourself spiritual states and unveilings he lived - to understand for beginners (especially those related to development of metaphysical doctrine of tawhid "Wahdat al wujud" although he clearly rejects pantheism and incarnationnisme, because this is not what should ensue, and to be understood, in our understanding of this doctrine). So, it shows both the depth of understanding that draws the verses of the Holy Book and prophetic hadiths, and the knowledge of the monumental work of his spiritual master Ibn 'Arabi, which are all reflections Divine Wisdom that it is possible to tap into the Islamic tradition. Nevertheless, some explanations related Wahdat al waujûd were best exposed by two other great spiritual masters such as Abu Hamid Al-Ghazali and Imam al-Junayd (although the name appeared long after them, the reality of this doctrine existed before and even the origin of life, since it is nothing but the immutable and universal truth flowing from the Absolute Being).
