The device makes the weight alone is a stable impression. Knappe three kilograms brings it with a set of plates on the kitchen scale. It is processed much metal and little plastic. Nevertheless, the external dimensions are pleasantly small, so that does not take away even a behemoth in kitchen or pantry space. Only the two sets of plates used must not be placed logically also.
You can cook with three different sets of plates sandwiches, croque-monsieur and waffles. The replacement or the insertion of plates is simple. Each has a release button up and down to be pressed and the plate can be removed. The onset is even easier. The manufacturer recommends to grease the plates slightly. With butter or oil. I agree with this recommendation. Waffles and sandwiches dissolve easier and helps the fat to a beautiful tan.
Continuously, the heat of low about Med (ium) are regulated to high. You have to try out which level is used for the effect. Nor is there any recommendation by the manufacturer. With waffles we have only tried it between Low and Med and then increased to about Med. The sandwiches were very good results in Med. The waffles are Belgian rather than the usual here in Germany. The shape is square and the waffles are relatively thick. So make sure that they are baked, so they are not doughy in the middle. Sandwiches we have not been prepared with the traditional toast, but from a white bread and a crusty bread. Between two slices of thin came a hearty spread, a slice of cheese and a slice of tomato. Both bread variants are really succeeded with us convinced with the white bread a little more.
The device needs some time until the desired temperature is reached. Caution: the plates are really hot and you have to watch that you do not burn yourself. This also applies to the escaping steam. That should be a clear, but when handling and filling with dough (for wafers) can be forgotten ever. After using the device and the plates to cool down for about half an hour, because the latter keep the temperature very well. The plates can be cleaned manually or in the dishwasher.
