The VU + Duo2 was chosen by me, because I need more tuner and both cable and have a bowl connected. This recession is rather for transfer passengers and willed to relieve the anxiety somewhat. On the functions of the box, I'm not one, because they are very similar to the Dreambox. At the end still be found but a brief summary of my experience and my impression.
Delivery as always within one day from Amazon. The package includes remote control, HDMI cable, a short cable to the tuner Twin Tuner loop through, 4 batteries, power and SATA cables for the internal hard drive as well as a packet of screws and rubber rings for the hard disk installation.
I ordered a model without a hard drive and built this for now. These are 5 screws to release the lid of the box to decrease. The inside is very tidy and clear. The installation of the hard drive is relatively good, but you need a bit of skill to the one is screwed the hard drive screw the frame back onto the motherboard. A 2.5-inch disk helps here during installation. I have installed a 3.5-inch disk, making due to the height screwing a screw a little more difficult. After 10 minutes it was all over and the box was connected via HDMI to my AV Receiver.
Yet quick to download the latest image of VTi stored on a USB stick. To upgrade, the box must be completely switched off, on the front to connect the USB flash drive and turn on the box on the back. The display box then shows the way forward. After 3 minutes, the update is finished, the box restarts, and performs a through the Installation Wizard.
This is very well designed and as intuitive as the image for the Dreambox. After 10 additional minutes the Wizard was completed, and I have carried out no search for the channels that I wanted to take over the channel list of my Dreambox. The transmitter and bouquet list I had copied from my Dreambox. There are many different programs for, I will not go into this process. I use DreamX for the MAC, so you can easily store the lists of the old box and return to play on the new box. In my case both boxes were on the network, the process took 2 minutes. Restarting the VU + and I already had all my station lists and could watch TV.
The more up my plugins and skins work like on the Dreambox. Since the firmware in both cases based on the same basis, function many (most) Dreambox plugins and addons on the VU +. I have still the same skin as on the Dreambox installed my Softcam module set and adjusted other settings manually. In sum, I was done with everything in about 1 hour, during which I will the next few days certainly play a little.
Here is my assessment and findings:
-. KabelBW smartcard including Sky and HD + is running smoothly with the Softcam
- HDMI CEC switched my AV receiver, and my TV on and off, prima
- Switching times are faster than in the DM
- Picture and sound are better, especially the setting and choices are extensive as the DM8000
- Operation, Skin, programs are the same, I miss so far none of my Dreambox Plugins or addons
- Streaming on my iPad is working properly and faster as the legend
- Integration of the box in DreamX on the MAC is working properly, allows streaming, FTP, installation of plugins etc. as the Dreambox
- Download and upload videos via the network cable runs significantly faster as the Dreambox
- Both display the VU + very nice, especially the color screen (I personally do not need this, but it's a nice gimmick weather, temperature, stock quotes, e-mail mailboxes etc. to see
All in all, I am far more than satisfactory and the box can also highly recommend as transfer passengers.
