For over 6 years I was the owner of a Garmin Legend HCX and was with the part actually always satisfied but after the OSM maps for Europe, etc. were getting bigger and my hxc just could not handle, I was mainly for this reason for the purchase of Dakota 20 decided. Of course, the appeal of the touch operation was great and that is the strength of the Dakota! Scrolling the map is much faster and easier than it was with the stick at the Legend. The service is initially a bit strange and I find the menu structure when Etrex was better managed because there faster (with just one touch) "scroll" through the menus can. But I can make friends with the menu structure quite me. What must be emphasized yet: Various maps are loaded on the memory card and the Dakota other individual cards and deselect! So I can always switch to a different card / another country and does not always play the new gmappsupp.img file / rename as it was at the eTrex Legend. The brightness of the display was absolutely sufficient when etrex a lot lighter but still. Especially in sun / daylight, the lighting can be switched off - all legible! The GPS signal is found also significantly faster at Dakota (purely objective impression, time not measured). The built-in altitude / barometer is also quite nice. The height profile You can display graphically - was missing the eTrex Legend. The menus and screens you can modify or customize - that's well done!
I would have still required a Flashlight function (a simple LED would have been enough) and a temperature sensor. Although you can connect a temperature sensor via radio but that costs unfortunately good 30 and darüf you need it then but not necessarily.
