Since the space on the 1TB drive is running out also because of countless files, needed a hard drive expansion. What could be more natural than to take a LaCie also again after the previous, positive experience.
One can easily cascade the hard drives with a Firewire cable. (Thunderbolt has my Mac does not!), You need both a separate power supply! So, the new hard drive infected via Firewire cable to the first plate and already starts the LaCie Desktop Manager. It displays about 350 MB space used, presumably for Windows.
In Disk Utility of Mac I have left selected the plate, the tab "Partition" is selected in the right window part, set in "partition layout" on 1 partition, awarded with "partition information" a name, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) is selected as the format, the entire plate size of 1.5 TB has been shown and still clicked on the "Apply" button. After a short time the plate is then already available and will be displayed correctly in the Finder.
Some large directories are moved without complaint from a LYCIE on the other.
Perfect! What more do you want?
