On the one hand, it is certainly in some way understandable that there is such a hype about this series, after all, the author here really goes to great lengths to make the story in detail and exciting, but the spark in me just wanted to not skip. Nevertheless, I can even criticize little writing style. The story reads easily and fluently, characters and places are described in detail and also the dialogues were not total failures. Critically, however, I see that history often quite predictable runs and at the same time that the figures exactly everything is played in the hand always what they need in this very moment. It happened to me too many coincidences at once to permanently convince with voltage. The story still has its exciting moments, only these were the less time.
The figures themselves are quite well developed and you can partly also good to know, but I have the problem that they have often acted aloof to me. I liked this "middle" feeling was missing in many places, so that I could never really get into the story. Jace and Clary are certainly many readers an absolute experience, but unfortunately it was for me not be easy. The dialogues between them I found though often quite humorous, sometimes sarcastic, but I was not just having them in the further course warm. The same applies to Simon, Izzy and Co: some places really sympathetic, but simply no characters that I want to get to know about several volumes out because I just do something special. The theme Demon Hunter I found quite interesting in itself, but unfortunately I have already read several other books with similar themes, so that "City of Bones" was rarely for me to present something new. But still, I want to admit that I would have had a lot more fun with the series, if I had not known any other books of the same subject matter.
Why then has therefore yet not fallen, despite some good approaches me the book ?! It is probably quite simply the fact that sometimes it just is not meant to be. There were many good points because that could convince me to part, but has simply missed you at the end of the special, the last spark to actually follow the book with all the available concentration. Therefore should also be clear that I will no longer pick up the second volume.
Even the third attempt to give this book a fair chance, I have to admit, unfortunately, that the book is just not mine. Some ideas are quite appealing, but unfortunately the spark in me did not want to just skip. Very sad, but sometimes it will simply not be. Fortunately, there are but a lot of other readers who love the book so that the author with a reader less certainly can live very well.
