Driver: San Francisco (Video Game)

Customer Review

The Driver series has finally arrived on the next-gen consoles. Driver - San Francisco continues the story of the first part. Felon Jericho was brought by John Tanner under lock and key. Towards his trial but Jericho manages to escape. When hunting Jericho Tanner suffers a serious accident and is from now on in a coma. From here, the player takes over the destinies of Tanner and you make yourselves on the hunt for Jericho.

Driver - San Francisco plays quasi Tanners' dream lives through this in his comatose state. For a moment Tanner realized yet that he is in a coma and almost died. Only in the course of the game it is increasingly clear that something wrong and why he can shifting into other people into it. It is precisely this shift function, apart from the Driver competition titles such as GTA or Mafia. At first I was skeptical that this feature is at all meaningful or not could even spoil the whole game. My concern was unfounded, since the shifting was really well integrated with the interesting and exciting story. The shift function is not a little side note, the one here and there playing somewhat relieved, it is an integral part of the game and was really well resolved. By pressing a button the camera zooms out of your current car out on a three-dimensional map. From here you can teleport into any car and take over the control of the driver. If your z. B. should stop speeders in an illegal street race, then you do not need this, circumstantial way, go behind and rammed off the road. Your Shifts z. B. just in a truck osder bus in oncoming traffic and then drive head-on into one of the speeders. Thus, the first would be off ...

As I said, that shifting so abstruse may be this idea works really well. But the rest of the game knows how to please. The story is told in an exciting and cutscenes were very well synchronized (Tanner is spoken by Christian Bale's voice actor. Nicholas Cage German voice actor lends his voice Jericho). More than 200 missions (main and side missions) you are offered. The Mission offer is also very varied. From race against several opponents, time trial, Tempo challenges stunt missions to chase is already ensured that you will not get bored. You will be rewarded with credits of course, of which ye to new shops, cars or upgrade purchase. At the workshops you should not save, since you unlock by purchasing the workshops new automobiles and challenges. 140 licensed cars (with cockpit perspective) have found their way into the game. You get offered everything your heart desires from classics such as the VW Beetle, on the '57 Cadillac Eldorado, the DeLorean, or Chevy Chevelle SS to supercars like the McLaren MP4-12C, Lamborghini LP670-4 Murcielage or the Pagani Cinque. Also for Trucks and Vans You can spend your hard-earned money.

Like the Californian metropolis San Francisco is the title suggests, the scene of the event and the city has made really great. Of course (and unfortunately) was not San Francisco 1: 1 faithfully implemented into the game but the Flowerpower metropolis is very convincing and was modeled alive. Many original buildings and attractions have found their way into the virtual San Francisco. You do not need to the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Pier 39, the Port of San Francsisco that Tansamerican Pyramid, Coit Tower, the Palace of Fine Arts, the City Hall, the Grace Cathedral and the St. Michael's Church renounce , The other buildings and structures are similar to those of the original San Francisco very well modeled. As I said, the city has been implemented very credible.

Graphically makes Driver also cuts a fine figure. The graphics run smoothly and the foresight is extremely high. One can see from the Golde Gate Brigde the skyline of the financial district. The city is with civilian traffic (by the way also licensed vehicles) and numerous passers-populated. The only thing I ask is but repeatedly: "Where the hell are the cable cars?" The there are, for whatever reason, in this game not.

Also the sound is a huge success. The German Synchro is very good, the sound effects are authentic and realistic sound and the funky soundtrack makes real mood.

Conclusion: Driver - San Francisco is really a lot of fun and extremely motivated to continue playing. Although the title does not come close to the competition from the home Rockstar, is his money but definitely worth it. Fans of the series and fans of sandbox games like GTA 4 or Mafia should dare a trip to San Francisco. It is worth it. Really!
