Tastes obviously differ - I can this album hardly abgewinnen something.

I actually like the gentler Nick Cave. "The Boatman's Call" and to a lesser extent, "No Mor Shall We Part" I consider great and important albums. That would deliver Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, with all their years of experience not really abysmally bad record, was also already clear beforehand. In this respect, of course, true what previous speakers say the album is professionally produced and played. Both Cave and the other musicians know how to play cautious and yet sets fine accents and thereby get out of the material out the best.

However, as is also the problem: the material this time is simply not as good; the endless Ozeans- and water metaphors bob something einheitsbreiig then, the music gurgles accompanied complacent, but really stuck little. A good album should calm bulky or may not be readily available, but here behind the gentle lift PA only a dignified Altmännerabgrund, has nothing of the emotional despair and directness of "Boatman's Call". The echoes of the dark side of the soul and love are behaving and acting clarified.

After witty, but somewhat artificial rebelliousness of Grinderman a plate with no rough edges. I bet that hardly anyone who has this album been 4 or 5 stars will often attack in the coming years to do so. "The Boatman's Call", however, is just under 15 years, is still a welcome guest in my CD player.
