So full of promise begins the new King novel and one looks forward to exciting hours full horror and scary because the English word Revival has many meanings.
And last but not least King writes getting better, more detailed, with interesting observations and wise remarks were, the old way. Although this mainly - unfortunately - is true of his collections of short stories, not necessarily for his novels.
And so it is unfortunately also here: The story tümpelt to himself, and one longs for the furious horror novels back as Firestarter or Shining!
Only little tension on the first three hundred pages. A really good story of Jamie, whose entire life with Rev. Charles Jacobs is interwoven and that the passage of time encounter repeatedly in fateful way, sinking into too much consideration, side issues and not enough voltage. If one uses the novels from the early days of the King of Horror for comparison, you automatically have to be disappointed by the slow-building tension to this novel.
It was not until page 300 takes the story really ride on and develops into a horror novella @ la Lovecraft, because the former Rev. Charles Jacobs, who lost his wife and child in an accident, makes experiments, which he should keep your hands
In addition, the characters oddly pale and unreal Me neither the Reverend yet our hero Jamie outlined credible.
Of course: It still is an above-average thriller with horror elements, but on a novel by King you just go approach with greater expectations that may Revival not meet unfortunately for me it is absolutely not a Page Turner, but (except for the last 100 pages) bored -zugegebenermaßen - a very high level.
Conclusion: Certainly good reading material, but with weaknesses, still worth reading, however, definitely.
