That's better ...

As was broken reinforced in my surroundings and to have my cat better view, I have now bought me an IP camera.
The reviews on the IP cameras here on Amazon are indeed quite scattered. But this camera was mostly positive reviews and thus the Wansview NCL616W was appointed.

First of all: this camera is definitely back to Amazon!

Because:

1) This camera is probably on the way out. There is no more current firmware, which allows the FTP server to specify a path. This feature was added in the newer models of Wansview and it's definitely important.

2) an update of the camera in general is a horror. Per browser could specify a file and flash, but there are simply on the homepage Wansview no download possibility of firmware. One should do it with the tool "IPCMonitor". This tool is for OSX but not available. On Windows, the tool will simply not have a camera, although it is fully furnished and accessing the browser.
After googling a while I just found the FTP server of Wansview and just realized that I already have the latest firmware (see item 1, no FTP path configurable)

3) the software of the camera is apparently not compatible with Nas4Free. I have on my NAS operating system Nas4Free run and there set up an FTP server. Though the connection test the IP camera is successful, no pictures are stored on my NAS. I want to save the pictures may not reflect the Internet, in one of the online FTP services. Since I can the private pictures yes same post at Facebook.
An FTP test with my webhost one.com however led to success. So the camera pushes the images diligently to my webspace. But as I said for me not ideal.

4) a resolution of 640x480 definitely not sufficient to identify a potential burglar. Especially in the night mode is the image a tiny, fuzzy and blurred pixels - porridge. I would not recognize themselves in these pictures.

Positives:

The camera detects motion properly and dutifully sent emails.
About the App iSmartViewPro can rotate the camera from from smartphone with a mop.

Here's a little tip: the app would take an IP a "Camera ID". This is located on a sticker on the bottom of the camera under "DID" (presumably Device ID). Do you have to come first plan what a Camera ID is for now.

I connect via VPN into my network to the camera and be able to control from outside. I would also recommend generally and not just wild open ports in the router and make the camera generally via built-in DDNS service available on the Internet.

I have now ordered the slightly newer model "Wansview NCM625W". The resolution is 1280x720 and there what I so see on Youtube, the picture is much better here. Unfortunately, I find no video showing the night mode. So try again yourself.
I hope in this model the connection works with Nas4Free and I see something in the pictures that are sent to me by email.
