The second studio album of the then relatively young formation of the Foo Fighters, which was published in 1997, is still one after countless years to the best 3 albums I own (the other two switch again). 3 years from the death of the former God of young grunge scene Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl was able to free itself definitively with this album from the steadily around him, Nirvana-load. It must have been a hard time for Dave, because everything still turned up to the deceased legend and rarely was really interested in the project Foo Fighters shown. For the first album, which Grohl still completely grossed alone, then the first band lineup was put together for the tour, which, however, over time changed several more times until she arrived at today. It was also the Foos, critically, no long lifetime predicts what but fortunately it turned out to be false. Dave Grohl has become much with his Foo Fighters bigger & better than it ever was for their time with Nirvana. What the band has come up with, however, occur despite the many internal problems (Raußwurf the former drummer, exit of guitarist) and the already very interesting debut, all of musical geniuses that could at that time no one imagined in his wildest dreams. This album helped the Foos finally ascend into the top league of the Rocks. Because so much is the same to say, the Foo Fighters had nothing more to do except for a few bonds from the first album with the grunge of Nirvana. They were and still are a pure-bred rock band. What makes The Colour and The Shape for many fans today for the best album, is the simple fact that the board consistently maintains such a high level, as it has me offered no other plate in my life and that doing even such large Hits like "Monkey Wrench", "My Hero", or Song About the Foos par "Everlong", are gathered on this album. Even two of her most beautiful ballads can be found on the work: "Febuary Stars", which ends at the end in a dermaßigen, swollen Guitar thunderstorms, and "Walking After You", which continues through beautiful & very quiet arrangements in scene. Again, the really typical sound of Foo Fighters was founded or strengthened. Good rock, paired, and in exchange, with good ballads and midtempo deposits, catchy melodies, texts stimulate thought and sing along and give the distinctive voice of Dave Grohl, including its Schreiwut which he has until today so increased that I keep asking myself, how he does it merely without death to overturn. I remember it as if it was yesterday that the former publication day I listened to the record and was first a little disappointed with the offered. I bought the CD yet and only a short time later had me so much new and interesting presented that I could get no longer enough. I have certainly heard today 1000 times this work and there is still no song I could not hear over and over again the. That's what, for me, makes this record the best record of all time. To get to know the Foo Foghters, there is certainly no better than this panel, but you have to then also the fact to be aware of having the best of the Foo Fighters heard. The other albums are also class, generally offer considerably more than other bands, but no longer come right up to this Genistreich. I can give this album unfortunately only five star, but really he deserves a starry sky on a clear night.
