I have this wonderful lens for almost three years and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a bright medium telephoto, unreservedly recommend. The imaging performance of the D300 is enormous and should also for the coming generation of cameras with APS-C over 16 megapixels (D7000) is more than adequate (as the lens on a full frame camera behaves, I can not judge). Opposite zoom lenses such as the 2.8 / 70-200 VR, the lens falls out significantly smaller and lighter. Thereby, it also fits into camera bags and backpacks that simply are too small for the heavy professional zoom. That it is in the AF 2.8 / 180 D is not a zoom lens, and I have not felt as real disadvantage. On the contrary, by the fixed focal length, I was forced to deal with me again more with the choice of cameras to be positioned and the image section, which my photos do have benefits. Unfortunately, the lens has not yet autofocus motor (Silent Wave Motor). This is in my view no longer up to date, even if the focusing is carried out quite fast on the D300. Therefore, I give the lens only four stars.
