This double CD is Nena has outdone themselves, but is also a great risk, as several reviews prove. The red disc (the actual studio CD) brings us very good German pop music. Who Nena bgleitet from its beginnings to the present day, the highs and lows have noticed their record releases. This red CD is an absolute high! The opener "Do you want to go with" combines excellent, the light-heartedness of their NDW-time with a mature self-consciousness, which is lyrically expressed in almost every subsequent song. Can anyone imagine someone Nena in Studio 54? No? I just did not until I heard "vitamins", a title with echoes of the disco era. Who believes now, that does not work (I would have said), is wrong: The title is an absolute Burner! Fortunately, Nena not copied itself, but is open to new ideas. In addition to pure pop this album provides even light echoes from the house area, in milder form, of course. The ballads (especially "Without love, I am nothing" in the Berlin Version) come largely (lyrically seen) without embarrassing moments from. The red disc shows a Nena that is absolutely on the cutting edge. A perfect transition to the orange CD forms the title "The Beginning". With a length of 8: 30min suggests these titles, which continues on the orange CD and even increases: Who has not taken Nena during the last 20 years the music seriously, now is no longer help. "Nena" still works as a band, as a one that harmonizes absolutely brilliant. The orange CD is indeed known from a nearly unfiltered recording the sessions on Mallorca and has therefore a non-live aural character. Already the first track "yes you can possibly do something about skin / I want a new one," likely those who expect the typical Nena also here to offend. Uncharacteristically harsh and experimental sounds dominate the orange album. I was often surprised (pleasantly surprised) how great the songs evolve and merge into each other at once, and then again to take another turn. One thing is clear: Nena and her band love music and they are all excellent musicians! But that is the risk of this CD: Here are two very different albums are combined, and the 'typical' Nena fan who maybe knows only their last album. "Nena feat Nena", you may love the red and the orange CD CD want to burn. As you can gather from some reviews, this fear is not unjustified. However, if you like variety and have fun with great music, will be thrilled! To conclude that this album will be one of THE albums of the year already, simply because it is surprisingly fresh, complex and varied. Congratulations to Nena!
