Superb meeting in 1960 of two of the best saxophonists Ben Webster and Johnny Hodges tenor (known as "rabbit" and it is true that it looks like a rabbit ...) viola. The connivance of our two friends produced a wild swing, accompanied by a set of high quality from the four other members of the sextet (guitar, drums, bass, piano). The "young" Hodges (born in 1906) and Webster (born 1909) had both been trained at the Ellington school. Ellington, this giant was keen to let the musicians he had distinguished and recruited for his band the freedom to develop their own careers and to occur either alone or together even outside his own training, whereas, instead to make him shade, they worked to mutual enrichment. The "Duke", was born in 1899 their eldest, their big brother. However, he buried them both (Hodges went in 1970, Webster in 1973, Duke in 1974). But their work is eternal. Excellent album of classic swing, highly recommendable.
