The true gems of 'Clockwork Angels' are, however, at the end of the album.
'The Wreckers' and especially 'Headlong Flight' are songs that are on the same footing as the Rush-masterpieces from the time of 'Permanent Waves' or 'Moving Pictures'. 'Headlong Flight' really you realize its almost 8 minutes is not on, so much the song grabs the listener. After the brief interlude 'BU2B2' follow then again two absolutely amazing songs, including 'Wish Them Well' and the beautiful 'The Garden', one of the best bouncers of all Rush albums.
The songs need indeed rush typically always a few runs, until you become really warm with them (some more than others), but then you get as usual an unparalleled listening experience.
The concept of the album is indeed opened nice falls while listening to themselves but not really, unless you're on it respects (only BU2B and BU2B2 are really flashy).
For Sound: The album is - as criticized by many other reviewers - actually very punchy and fairly produced loud, yet it is never too loud (it sounds not as such as Vapor Trails) and also the pressure of the production goes well with the sometimes quite brutal songs.
All in all I think 'Clockwork Angels' for the best album since 'power windows' of 1985 - when the first Hördurchgängen I was still more than skeptical, but now I can not even get enough of this album. Clearly 5 stars.
