Again a brief summary of the book mentioned alternatives and a brief assessment.
1. cornea creams and sprays: nothing for more severe cases. Tried and abandoned as one creaming until cows come home day.
2. pumice: during bath or foot bath. Helps a bit, but in spite of regular use I've given up.
3. Callus file: maybe helps for lighter cornea. Mine was too weak, or you would have been busy for hours with files.
4. Hornhauthobel (with blade): so far the best weapon against strong cornea. But the end result is very uneven and it is found in the fact that one hobelt times too deep and again have to go back, and has thus caused a farther plan. But overall useful for rough groundwork.
5. Pedicure: somehow you can not decide as a man for the job ... (probably a mistake).
But now, keyword "rasp" read, searched on Amazon ... and the same order.
Initial experience:
+ A solid tool, massively and is neatly in the hand
+ BUT: for the first time a uniform ablation of the cornea is possible, in particular caused by the planer "craters" and "ramparts"
+ Out the result has an immediate smooth and even, and the thickness of the cornea layer is reduced fairly evenly for the first time
+ The rasp can then simply rinse under water
+ I turn completely dry before showering ... and creme later (when I remember) a feet.
At one point, I now can give no final assessment: my cornea is quite cracked heel. Since the Hornhauthobel has can not help at all. At least the depth of the cracks by the generally thinner and more uniform layer of the cornea is now reduced, and also the pain while running on the heel are already reduced. But in addition cream I continued, now run in the summer a lot of barefoot, and now just have to watch what happens next.
Conclusion:
1. To date, clearly the best method for removing thicker cornea!
2. Regarding. the tears I'll give an update later.
Unique buy rating and 5 stars!

Supplement the beginning of November 2012: the cracks, it has also become more aware of the weeks and months, simply because the cornea layer is thinner and more evenly over time is
Addendum March 2014: plus the "Scholl Schrundensalbe" for creaming after treatment, still in total the best solution
