Before I ordered this camera, I had already tested the following Super zoom 14 days at extensively and thoroughly: the Sony HX1, the Nikon P100, and the Canon SX20IS. I could really leave time - thank you Amazon! Also, I was able to Fujifilm HS10 my brother in law (who is not happy with it and now want to switch on the FZ100) test.
I am not a professional, not even ambitious amateur, but only a simple but avid amateur photographer. So I knew exactly what I was getting myself into with a superzoom. Also have previously read reviews and forums ransacked but what brought me closer more confused than a decision. So I had to convince myself.
In short, despite a willingness to compromise, I was slightly disappointed with all cameras:
The Sony was too slow, also the autofocus, and then forced to the exclusive memory sticks - no!
The Nikon liked quite good, but the AWB is very often next to color and keep resetting manually - no!
The Canon SX20IS unfortunately much noise (the SX30 is supposed to be worse) and, for me hakelige operation, much cheap plastic. In addition, accurate focus - no!
The Fuji HS10 good images with little noise, white balance but a disaster! And I had been to the practical Zoom with one hand (!) Used. In addition, very, very slowly, so - no!
Then the FZ100: Initially, I was thrilled, despite noise and lack of focus, as well as with the other candidates. And after I informed me in various forums, I also made the mistake and became the pixel counter, compared the pictures in the 100 and 200% mode. A bullshit !!! What me very irritated, were the large number of so far divergent judgments of testers from Super to disaster. Anyway, I had the no rest and I was able to read really excellent tips for personal setup the FZ100 in the DSLR forum (thanks especially to Goddy) and try it. A revelation and since I am absolutely satisfied with the picture quality!
Supremely I find the FZ100 with the following features:
- The speed in general
- The fast and reliable autofocus even in dim light
- The fast shutter mode
- The ability to store the same 3 separate setups
- The practical Quick Menu
- The natural colors
- The extremely practical Tele Macro
- The MyColor mode
- The highly practical multi-Film Bracket (3 movie modes of a recording,
and in addition to many other practical things of course the really sensational video mode!
Since I do not intend to participate with posters printing in competitions, corresponding to this camera ultimately exactly my expectations. And, although I wanted to send them back soon after 1 week.
Do not get irritated by people who try the camera with 100 photos and the next day you pass judgment. I maintain, also a skilled photographer is not able to test the camera in a few days. And if you are not the chip testers familiar then you can see it out the reviews in Cnet on.
My personal conclusion:
One must first find its settings, then the FZ100 is worth every single penny.
If there were to assess 10 points, I would give them.
