Christ Illusion (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Granted, the expectations were rather low for the modest predecessors, but as it's just so, if you're a fan of a band, the latest output commitment nevertheless somehow. I have been struck a few days after the publication and can only say that Slayer have so beaten into the album of the year.

Already in advance the album has been described as a mixture as Seasons in the Abyss and God Hates Us All, which roughly well there: Tom roars still, but this time more in pitch, the comforting reminder of past exploits and the guitars are still deep voted, but not more so in the basement as in 2001's release. The biggest advantage of this album compared to its predecessor is in my opinion, the time not only to 100% full it goes to the 13, but a lot more melodic in the game is what the album missed significantly more variety. Which brings us already arrived in the song:

- Flesh Storm: After a short intro the song kicks off in best "War Ensemble" style. A fast thrash song that cleverly combines old and new elements and still remains quite catchy.

- Cataclyst: Here the speed is again increased and Tom roars itself truly the soul from the body (and tasted the way out, as of one can accommodate the berühme F word in a song). If the living room furniture is still to this song, you have probably done something wrong.

- Skeleton Christ: Now already follows the first breather. The song is rather settled in mid-tempo and builds a pretty nasty atmosphere. This is in addition to the high-speed Geballer the second type of songs that can be found on Christ Illusion. Lyrically it comes to Christian fanaticism that seems to reach just in the United States ever more absurd proportions.

- Eyes of the Insane: Bats in the same vein as Skeleton Christ. A slow song, the increases and slowly builds up in the best "South Of Heaven" style of atmosphere.

- Jihad: The mandatory for each Ami-band song about the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, politically correct, as Slayer now sometimes just have it here, though, the prospect of terrorists. The song begins with very strange acting riffs that at least very reminiscent of the general, disturbing atmosphere that then seemed omnipresent and then develops rapidly into a neckbreaker first cabin. Maybe you have to listen to him a few times, but once he once ignited, which is the best song on the CD so far.

- Consfeary: Next go in uptempo. Because I do not want to repeat myself and do not bore the reader, I shall be brief: Reign in Blood³

- Catatonic: Another one of the songs that put a lot of emphasis on a nasty Atmopsphäre. However, this song is one of the weaker the album

- Black Serenade: In principle the same as catatonic, just bangs the song a bit more.

- Cult: By far the best song on the album and the most brilliant thing ever published since the Slayer "Seasons ...". The (more or less intelligent) opinion of the star for this song one can already read here and exactly what it looks also. After a short intro with pounding riffs breaks loose a musical steamroller that makes everything flat, which begins not immediately fear. Lyrically show Slayer here the church to be stretched middle finger. In addition, you can think what you like (even if you know that Tom Araya bekenneder Christ is), I personally find the text horny and given the current world situation and not so wrong.

- Supremist: At the end of life Slayer again with pounding Ryhtmen their misanthrophische vein and say goodbye after having gently decaying guitar howl (who is now among them can imagine anything, think please to the end of "for whom the bell tolls")

Conclusion: This album is just still horny: Slayer combine their trademarks with new influences without but again too much in Metalcore / Nu Metal abysses drift. The guitar solos dispense still any melody, Dave Lombardo impressively proves that he is one of the best (Metal) is still drummer in the world, Kerry King and Jaf Hanneman show that they still can write cool riffs and Tom Araya is under proof that his voice still works eiwandfrei at least in the studio.

All Slayer fans who do not own this album, imagine now only times for 666 hours in the corner and all the others who even a little what can do with heavy music, take up!
