Masters of the almighty riffs are striking back ...

I'm going to deliberately not go into whether Darkthrone have betrayed anyone or not. Even if they have now found their style. The just do their thing which it is them whatsoever. And I think it is now clear to everyone that we hear no "Transilvanian Hunger" more. The days are gone.

Nocturno Culto and Fenriz found after some rather average albums to its former strength and just rock it happening. As with "bazooka" and like "A Blaze in the Northern Sky", with the style has changed, of course.

"The Underground Resistance" is in my opinion the best album of the younger band history. Already the opener "Dead early" you realize that no prisoners are to be made. The riffing reminds a bit of a mix of Slayer, Sodom, Kreator late 80s as the mentioned bands probably reached their zenith. The interplay between the guitar with bass and drums is incredible. I did not think that I get to hear something again.

"Valkyrie" I'd rather watch a ballad, but very strong varieties. Very strong introduction to the acoustic guitar, the supporting vocals by Fenriz. Just as if now Darkthrone found a song of about the very peculiar (I do not mean negative, I am a fervent admirer of Isengard) voice of drummer fits.

"Lesser men" convinces with many Solis, also the "Capital Reef" is purely good.

In "The ones you left behind" Nocturno Culto and then alternate Fenriz from the vocals, this song also rolled out and not seem to be unstoppable. What suddenly develop a punch. And always this ingenious riffs.

"Come warfare, the enire doom" then spits again without end. Unbelievable, really :) Starting from the first riff and solo, this song can no longer going so fast.

And to finish the upper hammer: "Leave no cross unturned". 13:49 (the number is actually intended?) Fine - let's say - the music of Darkthrone.

I've mentioned this before, but I did not think that I should listen twice as an album, no less than for pre-2013. Not "Digitally Remastered" but genuine and new. One of my Vorrezensenten it has already said. While death and black metal died and the commerce fell victim whistled Fenriz and Nocturno Culto it and did their thing. The fruits we can harvest now.

If I'm honest me before "bazooka" so completely convinced. The other releases from Darkthrone thereafter can not be measured so that.
