The boys grow up

Blink 182 from the CD "Enema of the State" no fewer than 5 million pieces sold in the US. That was also the reason why the successor to "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket" debuted at # 1 on the Billboard. For me, they have always been an extremely likeable band: I've rarely seen such funny guys like Mark Hoppus or Tommi De Longe.Und just as was previously also their music skipped more youthful, not really meant seriously and was always fun in foreground.

With this album, this style has changed but: Blink 182 are almost become very grown up. People who like them because of their punk songs will have to chew on this album probably hard.

Although the opening track "Feeling This" and "Obvious" is rocking quite nice, but already with "I miss you" the new direction is clear: Partly thoughtful, melancholic pop can be found on this CD. Interestingly, however, the Blink 182 experiment really on this CD, as with Violence "or" The fallen interlude, "the most remarkable song that the guys have ever done: Travis Barker is a standard rhythm, plus there is a tremendous grooving bassline, with cryptic piano strumming and singing scraps, actually without correct text.

Sure, there are still the fast punk - rockers like "Stockholm syndrome" or "" Go, "but that is no longer your main focus.

Strangely the duet with Cure mastermind Robert Smith called "All of this": such a song could have been held for 182 out of the question so far in Blink, because the song sounds really to "Cure".

First I was extremely disappointed by this album, because my expectations were quite anders.Danach I tried really neutral to hear the CD. Only in this start-up some brilliant songs like "Down" are then I noticed. Actually show the boys with this album great musical potential, it is a kind of "White Album". Probably they will lose with this album a lot of fans but also a lot to attract new ones. Anyway: The mass appeal is well-meaning.
