Princess Zelda was kidnapped by the sinister sorcerer Agahnim, which plunges the kingdom of Hyrule in darkness. The young Link is chosen the dark wizards to defeat and to bring back through the power of Tri-Force Zelda ...
After a few Zelda games, the story is similar, ausgelutscht like Mario, after the time somewhat. Although all parts somehow obsessively trying to grab each other, so for me in every game is always a great story, always with the same pattern, but the trappings is always different!
Link to the Past was just the third game of the series and was desperate to standards, similar to the original for the NES. And while the two NES-parts (especially the second!) In some places are still very cryptic and today are no longer so easy to play, so confident Link to the Past with a near-perfect gameplay, beautiful appearance and legendary music.
Those familiar with Zelda, which will quickly get to grips, and also for newbies, this game is entirely appropriate, as it gently introduces the player into the story and asks him and continue slowly continues. Speaking of which, the difficulty is really remarkable, but never it is really unfair, some places are very frustrating and to solve all the puzzles in the game (including the side quests), it already requires lots of stamina!
The nice thing but yes, you can tinker your way to Agahnim (or Ganon) quite autonomously, you do not need, for example, all items (except the Dungeon Items!) Or comprehensive.
But it's of course a lot of fun to explore the huge Hyrule, especially since there is still the shadow world that actually doubles the size of the game! There is so much to explore, investigate and solve! And it's so great because Hyrule & Co are designed so loving, even today, it is wonderful to see how much detail reingesteckt developers here and created still a large and broad-based, topic-rich world. What 16-bit can align everything, you will be amazed again and again !!
The music is of course again unbeatable and probably one of the best Zelda soundtracks at all: The main theme has a wonderful sound on the SNES, to the great and rousing Shadow World theme to time to mention my personal favorite, but one discovers everywhere coherent and beautiful melodies that follow the optical highlight!
Conclusion: As I said my expectations were a bit too high and my all time favorite Ocarina of Time can also A Link To The Past not beat them, but it's definitely one of the best Zelda games because for many it probably the perfect mix of the Best of Ocarina and the original is, but oh well, this is all subjective. Once again a full Zelda success, in my opinion and I'm looking forward to the next game of the series!
