A fascinating book that reframes cryptology in its historical context (ancient civilizations, Mary, first and Second World Wars, ...), without forgetting the legends that surround it (code of Beale, ...) and decryption ancient writings, to whom it provides its weapons. Although non-technical, the book clearly outlines many of the major encryption methods and cryptanalysis with examples and exercises to support, and we brought a moment in the life of those who devised them. The author the opportunity to expose the debate about limiting or not encryption techniques, and makes us look to the future Domain, large quantum mechanical reinforcement (including the statement of principles, however, contains some inaccuracies).
