After having read Joseph Balsamo I was eager to read The Queen's Necklace which follows. It is a very beautiful story and we meet almost all the characters of the novel precedent: Joseph Balsamo who changed his name to that of Cagliostro while being ever decided to lose the royalty, the Taverniers, the old woman Nicole Legay chamber whose ressemlance with Queen Marie Antoinette is updated in the affair of the necklace, etc ... There are also a lot of new characters like Machiavellian Countess of La Motte-Valois including Queen s' benefactress was made by snatching to extreme poverty, and, knowing the ressemlance Nicole with the Queen will use it to try to lose that last; there is also the Olivier Comte de Charny, who is madly in love with the Queen. In short, they are romantic and political intrigues has no end. By reading this book you can not help but think how well have done can sometimes turn against itself. A must read.
