As another reviewer of this CD and some commentators even I am annoyed again grossly publishing policy on Udo Jürgens, because once the buyer of old wine is offered in new bottles: a colorful array of undoubtedly successful live recordings it but all in since you can buy years CDs commercially available. Legendary concert recordings of Udo Jürgens from the 60s, 70s or early 80s, are waiting for their first-time digital publishing countless collectors and music lovers for decades, one looks in vain, however. Why, why?
As to the matter of the star number, I tend ultimately to be awarded only one star. Of course, the music has never earned on this CD, on the contrary. But I find that in the review of a sampler like this should have little or no go to the music itself, as with new productions necessarily the case with a new album, but much more to the "trappings", ie For example, to specify the questions: Will this sampler the complete works of the artist justice? Is it the result of a clever, deliberate publication policy out? He served the interests of those buyers who thorough and profound dealing with the work of the artist? All these questions I am sorry to answer with a resounding no.
If I one last spark had hope yet that those responsible for the Jürgens'sche publication policy but are not completely impervious to advice and maybe one day (I deliberately avoid the word "fans"), but also in the sense of music historically unprecedented in terms of knowledgeable admirer of and brilliant work of this Udo Jürgens but rethink even then only when this huge dilemma is also communicated to them repeatedly. And that seems to me to be almost only possible with the modest means negative, but please substantive and constructive-critical customer reviews. When we are talking five stars are awarded - so much Udo Jürgens' concert recordings would have deserved it per se - that those responsible are never ever wake up, but instead still think they have done everything right. But then we are all the same great, hot-awaited studio recordings and live recordings that were previously available only in analog form on old vinyl records, never get on CD.
