... Different. The debut album is already a thing DCDs for themselves and difficult to integrate into the big picture of her work. It sounds to me very much like finding a band for his own style, and it was in the year '84 probably. I do not mean negative, because even with their first drive to raise DCD with their individual touch of another Dark-independent formations that time significantly. But still here conventional instruments like guitar, bass and drums play a strong role, however, been supplemented by the DCD typical dulcimer and percussion. Without the latter, and only with the voice of B. Perry could this album yet readily into a pot of Joy Division, Cure and early Cocteau Twins throw. Lisa Gerard's vocals and their handling of the dulcimer but do here already the sound of DCD unmistakable. In the following album "Spleen And Ideal" sounds a little by early of this guitar Melancho sound, but compresses itself to typical neogothisch-medievalen Ohrenschmaus doing the middle creative period of two Musiküsse from the land of kangaroos mark. Who is sworn to this or later, ethno and percussionlastigeren Sound DCDs, should before buying this debut album a listen only once in the disk to avoid possible disappointment. It is indeed not a bad album, for many it is even a special treat - but the stylistic contrast to the later albums is already severe, and thus this sound is not necessarily for everyone. The three stars my rating mean in no case disdain. The album is well done and has an interesting sound. DCD would, however, stayed with this sound and would not be developed, they would never have lifted to the extent of the musical landscape as they eventually did it with albums like "In The Realm Of A Dying Sun" or "Aion".
