The device "works" of course, on the whole, & as expected. Of course, it is luxury - because everything that the Fryer, can also standard kitchen appliances - only partly a bit more uncomfortable and slower.
About the here already much-debated question of "fat as taste carrier" I do not want to distribute long-winded me. In fact, the results of my Fryers really seem lower in fat, but also slightly drier literally and figuratively - sensuous, more pejoratively. But this need not be a disadvantage for everyone taste and temperament depends.
(Not) thing festivals disadvantages, however, there are:
The smoke / steam development is partly spooky. Especially with marinated, breaded or similar -ierten products (ie just barbecue and fried, for the Fryer supposedly predestined is) I could at first in my not small, but blessed with no hood kitchen even when top ripped most windows after minutes hardly recognized and feared, worried neighbors would call the fire department ... The much given here (later seen by me) to do, the water pan beizufüllen the chic-orange digital display Fryers, actually helps - temporarily limited and. The fact remains that since firing the diabolical black furnace a hellish stench fat in my kitchen sticks like chewing gum on the church pews, and is almost impossible to exorcise.
In addition, wish to build quality leaves much. As with other buyers also includes at my copy the drawer (left hand) does not flush when pan & Wicker are used (which seems indeed to have no effect on the functionality). And the "Philips" lettering is already - by three to four times wiping with a damp microfibre cloth and a week! - Going to dissolve.
This really should not happen with a brand mid-range device now - and is actually an own goal: to PHILIPS SHAME this product? Or why else would not the company ensures that your brand name will remain visible ?!
Preliminary Conclusions:
That thing is hot and cool at the same time. It speaks eye (my) taste and convenience. "Necessary" it is not, and it also has disadvantages:
Whether to keep or refer the coming weeks will prove.
Update 4 weeks later:
Have, amazingly, almost no longer used my oven and hotplates since acquiring the Fryer ... that speaks for itself basically (or him), but quite unclouded, the "lucky" (still) do not:
- Meanwhile, the coating on the pan begins to dissolve (despite careful cleaning) - another drawback processing. (Incidentally, the cleaning trouble than had been feared. But the bulk of the pan in a medium-sized sink it more difficult.)
- The thing is smoking not only as a coal power plant, but also roars like a brünftiger Hirsch: (felt) considerably louder than even the (old) Microwave (the volume at one and the same passage irritating way seems to vary).
Balance, so far: Actually - I admit it almost reluctant to - I do not want to miss the part, but was at his still not over so unconditionally-excited as many other reviewers. At the most annoying I find a total processing weaknesses. Let's see how it proves itself in long-term use, and whether the "planned obsolescence" bomb is ticking. Somehow smells me the device (in addition to fat) then, but: not (be) scream before it hurts ...
SUPPLEMENTARY end of July '14:
Am now switched to the Klarstein-Airfryer (also available here): Costs barely half, but provides twice (size, equipment, accessories, handling etc etc) with absolutely comparable results - and all (even without tricks and limitations) completely smoke-free! A pity only that it is not (at Amazon) gave him, as I ordered the PHILIPS. It would have saved a lot of money.
