Visually The Order is 1886 simply the force in bags: Even my PC-drenched eyes it shows impressively what can conjure up on the current console generation. Detail down to the last, cinematic blur gimmicks, transparency and lighting effects to kneel down, breathtaking prospects and so on. The character animation, editing and staging are filmreif.
However, the splendor of tremendously atmospheric graphic can not hide the weaknesses in gameplay. The shooter deposits go so directly into the scripted sequences over, so that one wonders frequently why just yet controlled character develops a life of its own. Who now but sit back and want to admire the sequence, possibly missed the next Pressing Buttons, and found dead in the dark alleys of Whitechapel again. The solutions of the partly very short levels are specified. More choice than to hide behind this or that case, the player has not often.
Unfortunately, a lot of potential of the fascinating scenario is presented by weaknesses in the telling: characters remain pale despite great entertainment, relationships and conflicts are indicated, but play a role in the course of little more. Plot threads are torn and then virtually dissolved in passing, without that I get the feeling of having it share (Keyword: what became of Jack The Ripper?). Too bad, a little more our own contribution to the development of the story would have been nice.
Of course, The Order must measure at its competitors: The similarly gloomy and as dense told The Last of Us is as atmospheric and staged grandiose, but gives the characters more space and manages to create by changing pace much tension and atmosphere. Even though the levels are similar to linear, so they offer yet more variety and choice. The player must decide which approach it prefers itself. In addition, the transitions between play and scripts offer far fewer pitfalls.
The great steampunk epic Dishonored also provides a coherent scenario that is drafted clearly but careful in detail. Also the level design scores. Graphically, however, one notices him clearly the origin of the old Konsolengenration on. The wacky Bioshock does not take itself too seriously, clearly action-heavy, but also has a lovingly designed steampunk universe. All in all, The Order can not play technically apart from the competition and giving away a lot of potential.
So everyone Konsolero itself has to decide whether he wants to pay the required high price for these graphically and atmospherically exceptional PS4 technology demonstration, or whether he is still waiting due to the weaknesses in gameplay and story something or maybe even all fingers forsake them. But even those who as PS4 owner decides not to make a purchase, you should take a look to risk: this shows what the Sony-Spielekiste to afford to technically able.
4 stars is there at the end but because I The Order has 1886 very well maintained despite these weaknesses!
