per:
- Original speakers from the film trilogy
- With about 30 hours of playing time this fall quite long (only for good campaign)
- Good and evil campaign playable
- Emissions are partly well integrated into the film action
- Good graphics and finely crafted heroes (characters from the original film)
- Adjustable difficulty levels
- Original soundtrack by Howard Shore accompanies the individual missions excellent (also fit the different music themes always to the regions)
- Varied design of the scenarios
- Emissions are to do more good for strategy newbies
- Numerous missions during the campaigns (part of which is optional), which sometimes lead to places that do not treat the book and the film (eg Proximity-Harad, Mirkwood or Rhun.)
Cons:
- Missions are initially very varied, but towards the end, like peas in a pod ...
- Film template is trampled (as fights Sam suddenly with an army soldier against Shelob or Frodo throws the ring just like that in the lava, as if there was nothing easier or at the Black Gate dive more Haradhrim with their Mumakil on or Gandalf there is in the game dying not to mind, in Moria)
- Building sites are not freely selectable
- Scenarios are not very extensive
The biggest complaint I had was for me as a fan really implementing the film original. There are in the game simple things that you would be able to implement compliant film, but simply had no desire to do so. The love of film is simply nowhere evident in this game. Although the environment Design of scenarios always fits quite well and the design of the hero is coherent, but the action has been implemented absolutely loveless. And who does not even know the Filmvolage, the action is well able to understand little. And yet the individual missions are just fun. Especially at the beginning, these are extremely varied and one hand we follow the history of the Fellowship and on the other hand does one task to the next big event in the film version follows. So playing a mission at Amon Hen or in Shelob's cave, while other missions are located in new areas such as the mouth of Entwash. Later in the film plot but moves ever further into the background and especially if you still want to play the optional scenarios, the tasks are very repetitive and no longer have any relation to the background story.
Would love to have action because then you would "The Battle for Middle Earth" can be a completely successful adaptation. So it was indeed entertaining and quite captivating, but once play has nevertheless passed. We managed, however, that the Maximum Difficulty is always fair and so also strategy newbies will always have a sense of achievement. Take a look, the newcomer and the Lord of the Rings fan risk in any case.
