This is not a history book but a poignant testimony. We understand through the nightmare that saw the doctor Louis Maufrais throughout its 3-year trenches why this war should have been the "last of the last." Maufrais is a miracle, it was never really hurt, it was all great battles from 1915 to 1918. It narrates, it must be said, with the cold and insensitive under any physician operating under these conditions the passage of wounded, suffering, death ... He would have told more had he written this book (some passages are unfortunately too short) but still, give thanks to one of his descendants who undertook to publish his memories recorded on cassette, saving an oversight that could become permanent.
