Hubcap Music [Vinyl] (Vinyl)

Customer Review

The latest album of the man who has already experienced a lot in his life gives us a bit "harder" Blues with scratch leagues electric guitars and beautiful blues riffs. Who Steve does not know: The old man has been through a lot, to beat for many years as a hobo through life before he later became a studio musician. After a stroke, he moved in the 2000s in the home of his wife, namely Norway, the country where he with over 60 should also record his first album. "Hubcap Music" is now the most recent of his works. Steve is known for unusual guitar playing among others an electric guitar that has been assembled from tires and broomstick, hence the name of his latest album "Hubcap Music".

Steve welcomed us followed by good Delta blues riffs and driving bass in "Down on the Farm", that also gives an immediate taste of the blues with a residual program anfahrenden tractor. This style, he remains in the other titles largely faithful, offering mainly tangible blues fare which is marked with the typical delta blues elements. The Steve has now brought it to a certain level of awareness is also the feature "The Way I Do" in which Jack White accordance Credit contribute a one "Stone Cold" guitar solo, which fits well. Overall, the album is musically a round thing for me, even if none of the pieces out stands, this represents only my opinion that the quality of the pieces to settle rather consistently at the top of the blues box. Little tidbit at the end: Adopted we are of the tractor which we have already seen the beginning, this small sample is sent cut in the escape groove that we hear the tractor idling in a loop here. Even this little "gag" shows how much love everyone who worked on the album.

The quality of the press plate's fine, just measured by the moderate price of around EUR 20 (depending on who you ask). The label is centered on the right and heavy plate was punched clean. Only a minimal radial runout can be seen, when the disk rotates on the plate, the arm, however, shows quite a large smoothness. Sonically provides the board little exciting acoustic highlights. This is in my opinion mainly because mastered quite realistic. So you can hear in the more acoustic embossed "Over You", for example, the embrace with the sides of the guitar, whatever makes me much of the vibrancy of the music, but also like to "walk" even as error. Overall, all the instruments are mapped clean and detailed. The building up stage is not expected to be on orchestra size, but sufficiently differentiable and therefore nice to listen, since no details have to be missed.

The vinyl comes in a rough cardboard cover, which handles well and how I like to visual style of the cover fits. Inside there is a printed paper sleeve on the picture of the back is again in Pretty without headings, titles and credits to admire and on the other side of the sleeve, we find the texts on the individual titles. In addition, located in the "delivery" even a download card for MP3. The download is on the side of Seasick Steve, however, sets a registry advance on the page.

Overall it is a great album, which I would call despite the slight style change in some titles altogether as blues Abum. Again, I wonder if Steve has his solo career started much too late or just in time. Either way makes the current album of fun and will certainly ensure that I will get me his predecessors still.
