But now to the album, and its contents:
Old Man Markley play a mixture of bluegrass (Country), folk and punk, with no electric guitars can be heard on this CD down to tiny exceptions. As an example: you would Johnny Cash, Jerry Reed, Brad Paisley and Old Crow Medicine Show mixing - the result would be the great sound of Old Man Markley. The instrumentation is as follows: acoustic guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, accordion, violin, accordion and percussion. Add to that a great vocal performance (the lead singer reminds partly at Spike by Me First And The Gimme Gimmes), partly with backing vocals of two female members of the group or the whole band in unison. Really worth listening to!
The recording quality is excellent, well recorded, mixed, mastered and produced super.
And also of the song quality the band has some thinking to the plate to make varied. So the pace between the individual songs alternates back and forth, and also of the different way the song is the album will not soon boring - sometimes there is a fine high-speed number, then again a slower country song and even a melancholy blues is in. But do not worry, in addition to this are a lot of happy songs on the album ...
Personally, I have not regretted the purchase, and I look forward to many festival rides and parties where this album will play a major role. For me a very strong buy recommendation!
And another nice touch at the end: I have read that in one of the first public appearances of the group the beer was sold out completely at the end in an American Bar! And these songs I can also understand well! ;)
