After Roots' "Undun", now finally a convincing concept album with an exciting background story. Each song is like an episode of a season that a gamut from the first to the last track. And the message is clear: types from the ghettos not only build shit because they are stupid or violent per se, but because they are enticed by their surroundings to often without even knowing why. Kendrick Lamar succeeds with this album, presenting a poetic and intellectual work, which is easily next to Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell may have on the record shelves, without shame. So rap has to be music. Equally significant is that Kendrick, although this is a major release received no commercial compromises. He has the artistic freedom he needed. In addition to the grand storyline rape are also technically outstanding. Unbelievable how well this man can rap and his voice makes them a beat instrument, as it can not many other rappers. On this level there are only very few. All in all, a great album with consistent (except for the track with Drake) quality from start to finish.
